1. Background information and Partners  

The International Network of Solar Technology and Application Resource Centres (STAR C), Cornerstone of Rural Electrification initiative (CORE) and the ECOWAS Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) are partnering to support training on regional solar energy qualification frameworks and curricula for selected training and examination centres in the ECOWAS region. 


The Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) is set to embark on a transformative journey towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future through a collaborative effort between two SPC-hosted regional centres of excellence - the Regional Pacific NDC Hub and the Pacific Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (PCREEE). This groundbreaking collaboration aims to conduct a coherence review of the RMI National Energy Policy and Action Plan (NEPAP) 2015 – 2025, reflecting the nation's commitment to addressing climate change and fostering sustainable development.

“Aspiring to a just and equitable transition to a fossil fuel free Pacific means doubling our effort to build the local capacity to plan, design, install and maintain these renewable and energy efficient systems.”  These were the sentiments expressed by the Director of Pacific Community’s Polynesia Regional Office, Ms Elsie Fukofuka when she delivered the opening remarks to a training of trainers’ workshop on the Development of a Level 5 qualification on Sustainable Energy for Tonga.


An open call, announced today, is offering grant funding up to £200,000 per project to support productive use of renewable energy (PURE) enterprises to demonstrate and strengthen their business models to scale their impact in Pacific Island Countries.
